Look Out, 2024, Here Comes Guardz: From Abnormal Logins to SMTP Email Integration & More!

As we kickstart 2024, we’re thrilled to introduce several new updates designed to elevate your security environment – enhanced login detection, additional data residency in Australia, streamlined DLP auto-remediation, user-endpoint mapping, SMTP email integration, and more. These updates promise to deliver a superior and enriched user experience.

White Label – SMTP Email Integration

Send emails from your own email server rather than from [email protected].  With a simple SMTP setup, you can now customize the sender of emails your users receive.  This is another step in strengthening the MSP brand and a trusted security relationship with your clients.

Find the setup in the Organization Settings, contact info, and logo personalization.  This feature is ONLY available in the Guardz Pro and Ultimate Subscriptions.

Abnormal Logins

A key protection against potential account compromise or outright account takeover is the identification of abnormal logins.  This is a step in the broader direction that Guardz is taking to defend against all types of anomalous activity to be identified across the product.  Account compromise is based on cloud logs from Microsoft and Google and builds a benchmark for every organization about where their users login from.  Based on a series of telemetry and metadata, Guardz benchmarks what is “normal” and tries to identify any logins outside that norm.

Currently focusing on IPs, Cities, and Countries, you can now find an “Approved Locations” list in the Cloud Directory Posture security control.  This list represents the typical logins across an organization and can be viewed on a map as well as a detailed list.  Any logins detected outside these approved locations will result in a security issue and draw attention to an abnormal login.  It is simple to add a location to the approved list either through the issue remediation or “on-the-fly” in the security control.

Australia  Data Center

We are thrilled to share the addition of a new region to support the Guardz commitment to data sovereignty.  The Australia (AUS) data center should be selected at the time of sign-up and will become the data storage location for an MSP across all their customers.  If you have any questions or need help deciding the right data center for your business, you can reach out to us through the chat or at [email protected].

Data Protection – Auto Remediation

Data Protection at Guardz is an efficient way to identify any exposed cloud data that is being shared with external parties or even publicly with a link.  This type of sharing occurs on a regular basis, both intentionally (data exfiltration) and unintentionally (accidental shares).  The Guardz Data Protection App has previously been focused on detection, with remediations depending on adding assets to allow lists, notifying users, or utilizing manual playbooks.

But all that has changed.  Administrators can now remove the permission shares and public links with the click of a button.  This new automated remediation is available for Microsoft and Google, though it’s possible that admins will need to grant additional Google permissions if the latest app isn’t already installed.  If required, a notification can be seen on the dashboard about the missing Google scopes and a link to grant them.

Device Mapping

One of the superpowers of Guardz is the visibility of risk aggregated around a user.  In order to assist in connecting the dots, we have launched a manual mapping capability between endpoints and users.  Simply go to the device page, dive into a specific device to see the relevant details, and select the user related to that endpoint.

When devices and users are mapped, it expands the context of device-related issues and gives a broader breakdown of user risk throughout the product.

Improvements

Phishing & Awareness – Export CSV

When a Phishing Simulation or Security Awareness Training has been assigned, it’s now easier than ever to extract a list of the users and their status in completing the assignment.  Exporting a CSV or printing the results allows admins to efficiently communicate with their customers about how their employees performed and if follow-up is required.

Prospecting Report – Light Version

The Guardz Prospecting Report continues to be an impactful way for MSPs to grow their business.  Coming to a conversation with a potential customer and having a risk assessment in hand is a powerful method of communicating security risk and showing an understanding of potential threats.  Instead of just having a dark mode PDF report, admins can now choose the printable light version, so showing up with that report in hand can be on actual paper without having to order a new ink cartridge.

We can’t wait for you to experience the newest updates! Keep your eyes peeled for more to come!
